Meet the neighbours: East Bank
East Bank is a collaboration between some of the most respected universities and arts and culture institutions. It’s expected to bring in an extra 1.5 million visitors to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park every year from 2023 and it’s not hard to see why (there’ll be loads happening here).
Stratford Waterfront and UCL East will form the new culture and education district.
Driven by its role as Olympic Broadcaster, the BBC will be setting up state-of-the-art music studios at East Bank. The new studios will be home to the world famous BBC Symphony Orchestra & Chorus, BBC Singers and will see a substantial presence from the BBC Concert Orchestra.
Sadler’s Wells East is opening a 550-seat theatre and hip hop academy.
The V&A will also be setting up a new museum to display its work and collaborating with the Smithsonian Institution, while UAL’s London College of Fashion will have a new campus that will welcome 6,500 students.
East Bank will create over 2,500 new jobs, and see an estimated £1.5 billion generated for the local economy.
We can’t wait to see this new cultural hub come to life!
